Watch Out for False Advertising Slogans
You’ve seen them before–the advertisements that try to draw you in to buy a product. You should always be wary of such ads. This is especially true when you go to buy an automobile. Your car is too important of a purchase to make based on false advertising and empty promises. Here are some of the more common slogans that you need to watch out for.
Slug Those Slogans
- 0% Financing
“Come in today and get 0% financing!” Sounds great, doesn’t it? It sounds like you should not wait any longer. What they fail to tell you, however, is that you must have approved credit. This means that you will probably have to have a high credit score, thus giving you one more hurdle to overcome. So this time-saver could actually turn out to be more of a time-waster.
- You get below invoice pricing!
Wow, great! So you are going to sell me this car and you are not going to make a profit off of it? This sounds way too good to be true, and it probably is. It is absurd to think they will not be making a profit; they are probably selling it for cheap because they received a nice deal on the back end. Find out exactly what the dealer paid for the car, and you might be surprised.
- I’ll pay off whatever you owe on your old car
Thank you, it is great that you will pay off my junker car in order for me to get a new car. What they are not telling you is that they will probably add that money onto the new car you want. They are not going to spend a lot of money on your old car AND give you a deal on your new car. Expect them to add some money on the back end to make up for what they spent on your old car.
- Buy it now for…
You can buy it now and spend whatever you want on payments. You can make a monthly payment of whatever you want if you pay enough on the down payment and interest. Pay close attention to the terms of the loan.
Seek the Truth
When you get a car, you need to know the truth. Do not let anyone try to pull a fast one on you. You are in charge, and you need to let them know. It is important to look out for yourself in this situation. Do not become a victim to the false advertising slogans.
